This committee meets before the regular town hall meetings at 6:00 at the Lighthouse. Everyone’s welcome to come and share their concerns or ideas. If we are lucky enough to have you join our committee we also communicate via email and phone and other meetings.
The Linnton neighborhood faces many challenges in terms of safety. Highway 30 stretches along its main corridor and poses many traffic problems and frequent accidents. It is at the same time, blessed to have Forest Park along the same corridor with its many trails and visitors. Residents frequently express alarm at the lack of safety for hikers and bikers, on the highways. (The trails and many small roads are quiet and safe.)
The transportation committee works with three different road departments as well as the Park department to improve safety. We have also tried to introduce traffic calming measures and will continue to work on this.
The Transportation & Safety Committee intersects with the Environmental Committee as we tackle issues of clean air and a healthy river. We’d love to have you join us.
