Tank Farm Safety Committee

We are committed to reducing the multiple and profound threats that the CEI Hub (“tank farms”) presents to our local community, the regional area, and the state, especially in the event of an earthquake or accident (lightning strike, human error, etc.). Risks include:

  • Catastrophic Disaster for Humans and the Environment
  • Public Health Risks from Air Pollution
  • River and Soil Pollution
  • Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Our knowledge is based on experts’ research and published scientific articles and reports.

We are building a community voice to be heard and advocate for our community rights, those of humans and the environment versus corporate power supported and permitted by the government.

Our committee work overlaps with:

  • the NET (Neighborhood Emergency Team) whose volunteer members address Linnton’s emergency preparedness through education and training, meetings, and empowering neighborhoods and local businesses to build self-reliance.  Building community is a large part of NET’s focus.
  • the Linnton Environmental Committee that focuses on Willamette River water and soil pollution and tank farm and industrial air pollution and the resulting health and safety concerns that pollution causes.

LINNTON SPEAKS OUT

A great way to get involved – make a difference with just a few minutes each month

  • Making our voices heard, volunteers advocate by sending an email or letter or making a call to communicate with officials and organizations.
  • Composed of Linnton residents, we welcome allies from other neighborhoods.
  • We support other groups and organizations that share common goals.
