ABC University Preschool and After School return this fall
After a year of closure, the preschool and after school programs will reopen in September in time for the new school year. New heat pumps with air conditioners are being installed for both the preschool rooms and food panty building. The new ventilation systems will better filter out viruses and bacteria. The preschool unit was funded by Metro government while the food pantry unit was funded by private donations and the Oregon Community Foundation.
After school activities include healthy snacks, socialization, sports, arts, chess club, improv, and ever-changing activities. Staff are CPR and first aid certified. Give your child a safe, positive educational environment that encourages respectful socializing. Homework mentoring is available during the afterschool program.

New wheelchair ramp installed
A new ramp was completed this spring allowing wheelchair access to the upper meeting room for the first time. The ramp was funded through a grant from the Oregon Community Foundation combined with private donations.
Thanks to PHK Construction for repairing
food pantry façade
Repairs have also begun on the façade to the food pantry nearly one and a half years after a driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into the front of the building on Christmas day 2019. Recently, Patrick Kessi, president PHK Construction recently dropped by LCC to inquire why repairs to the food pantry were taking so long. He wanted to help. A few weeks later his crew began work. He declined payment for the work and will only accept payment for the cost of the lumber. PHK is a leader in LEED construction. The delays have been due to insurance claim issues.
Karate and Basketball return
Karate practice returns Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The Center is also taking sign-ups for Friday night community basketball from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
