The dictionary definition of an arborist is simply “a tree surgeon.” “It is so much more,” explained Brett Rousseau, owner of Lady Bee Arborist. As one of only a few women in a male-dominated industry, she has chosen to take an artful and holistic approach to arboriculture.
Her focus is preventative tree care, such as pruning to improve tree health, investing in soil, and advising clients on proper tree selection and placement. She also specializes in fruit tree pruning and native plant design.
Brett has 10 years of horticulture experience and continues to hone her skills at Hoyt Arboretum. She recently became a new mother, and that encouraged her to start her own business.
