Hello Linnton Neighbors,
My name is Amélie (Ah-may-lee) Rousseau. I couldn’t be more excited to step up as LNA Board Chair. I’ve lived up on Linnton Hill for four years now, but my roots go way back. I’m an OG West Hills kid—roller-skating at the Linnton Community Center after a happy day at Skyline Elementary in the ’90s. Full circle moment? Absolutely.
These days, I run a lively high school culinary program and serve as Oregon Education Association union president for my school district. I am single and child-free. No cats yet.
My mission—both in the kitchen and here in Linnton—is to bring people closer to their food sources, their land, and each other. I believe that when we know our roots (and what’s growing in our yards), we live healthier and happier lives.
Linnton is a unique, vibrant corner of Portland with a big heart—and an even bigger to-do list. From Tank the Tanks to tracking the energy demands of Silicon Forest data centers, this community does big stuff. We’re thinking about everything from ash trees in Kingsley Park to invasive plant removal, and we’re doing it together.
We’re lucky to have neighbors who roll up their sleeves—like Lynn and Keith, who cleared the Glen Harbor sidewalk single-handedly—and Nancy who advocates for community safety with Tank the Tanks. We’re keeping an eye on city council decisions, fighting for local voices in big environmental decisions, and lifting up stories that matter. This year, you’ll see new faces on the board and we hope to see yours, too—at meetings, on trails, and maybe even sharing a picnic blanket at Kingsley Park in August.
Linnton has always been a little wild—in the best way—and I’m honored to help guide our path forward with humor, heart, and a healthy respect for blackberry brambles.
See you soon,
Amelie
Chair, Linnton Neighborhood Association
