Have you seen the yard signs saying, “Learn How to Protect Your Home from the Front Door to the Forest.” The Linnton community has been part of the Firewise Program since 2020, a program designed to help residents protect their homes that exist in a wildland-urban interface (WUI) due to our proximity to Forest Park.

Upon request, staff from Portland Fire & Rescue will do an exterior-only assessment of your house and property. Experts will look for the potential for fire ignition near your house – the home ignition zone – and provide recommendations on ways to eliminate the fire’s potential relationship with the house.
Removal of some vegetation, trimming plants and cutting back trees around the home are some examples of good Firewise practices. Relatively small investments of time and effort will reap great rewards in wildfire safety.
