Thanks to the fifteen neighbors of the Waldemere hill area who gathered on Saturday, June 15 to cut back overgrown vegetation along the sidewalk from NW Hoge Ave. to NW 105th on St. Helens Rd. The path is once again passable thanks to their efforts.
Those helping included Paul Cooley, Ben and Deborah Keefer, Justine Aylmer, Kathryn and John Slothower, their children, Shawn Price, Mike Riley, and several others for whom I did not get names.
Thanks also to Kirsty Munn, President of the Linnton School Place condominium association, who successfully negotiated with ODOT to clear vines along the retaining wall below their property. The request for their assistance raised issues about ODOT, the City of Portland, and property owners’ roles maintaining Linnton’s public sidewalk and stairways.
Next up is a call to residents of the Glen Harbor residential area between NW Harbor Blvd and NW Hoge Ave. According to PBOT, the property owners along NW Roseway Ave. are responsible for maintaining the sidewalk below their homes. If anyone is interested in organizing a work party this fall, let me know.
