Linnton Neighborhood Association considers becoming a 501-C-3 recognized nonprofit

By Brian Hoop

The members of the Linnton Neighborhood Association (LNA) will consider a motion to approve becoming an IRS-recognized 501-c-3 nonprofit organization at our Wednesday, January 3 meeting.

Darlene Urban Garrett, Executive Director of Neighbors West Northwest, our District Coalition, informed LNA leadership their insurance carrier will no longer provide D & O coverage unless their respective NW neighborhood associations gain 501-c-3 status. D & O stands for Directors and Officers. This insurance protects volunteer board members and officers of an organization.

Ed Jones, Chair of the LNA, has already been working
on this and reports there should not be a problem securing recognition.
