The Linnton Neighborhood Association is seeking volunteers interested in monitoring, evaluating, and engaging with their neighbors on a wide range of land use actions that the City of Portland, County, and State agencies are required to notify neighborhood associations about. This topic was discussed at our March 1, 2023 neighborhood meeting.
Volunteers are needed to monitor the City of Portland land use and zoning proposals, public hearings, staff reports, decisions, and information about pre-application conferences affecting the Linnton neighborhood. Typical notices include land use reviews, design advice requests, demolition permits, urban forestry permits, noise variances, liquor licenses, and street vacations.
With Linnton’s proximity to industrial areas, we receive numerous Land Use Compatibility Statements (LUCS)–part of an application for a state-issued license. LUCS verify that the use or activity requested in the state license is allowed by local zoning and land use regulations. Typical agencies seeking these statements include the Division of State Lands (DSL), Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Oregon Health Authority (OHA), and more.
If interested, contact Sarah Taylor at sarahsojourner@mac.com or attend the Wednesday, July 5 neighborhood meeting at 7 pm at Linnton Community Center.
