Metro government is looking for a new Linnton representative to serve on their Central Enhancement Grant committee. The grant program provides about $250,000 per year for community projects in Northwest Portland neighborhoods near the Metro Central Transfer Facility.
The grants are designed to support residents within the neighborhoods of Forest Park, Cathedral Park, Linnton, the Northwest District Association and NW Industrial Area. Grants have funded numerous projects at Linnton Community Center and efforts organized by the Linnton Neighborhood Association.
Thanks to Linnton resident Kelly Stevens who has served on the committee for several years. The commitment includes attending three 2-3 hour meetings in May/June, October, and November as well as 2-3 hours of prep work prior to meetings. Duties include setting an annual grant program budget,v approving grant application questions and evaluation criteria, and selecting which proposals will receive funding.
Term length for committee members is two years – from May 2023 to May 2025. Committee members are eligible to receive a $75/hr stipend for their participation on the committee. There is an expectation that committee members will engage with their community, such as be involved in the neighborhood association, and help promote the grant program.
