Kingsley Park upgrades to remove Himalayan blackberries, replant native

By Amy Jauron

Kingsley Park will be getting a facelift through investment and partnership between Linnton Neighborhood Association (LNA) and Portland Parks and Rec Department (PPR). The LNA Board approved a donation to PPR to sponsor removal of invasive species of plants (namely Himalayan blackberries) and replanting with native flora. This investment was made possible by a small group of Linnton community members dedicated to beautifying the park through efforts begun over a decade ago. Thank you from all of us, you know who you are!

We will keep the community updated as the project progresses. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to stop by, enjoy the Park, and admire the lovely community garden plots. Additionally, if anyone is interested in joining the ‘Friends of Kingsley Park’ group, please email Amy at jauronamy@gmail.com. This group will continue to pursue possible future, larger investments for our beloved Kingsley Park including: a safer highway crossing, art, and increased recreation. Have ideas? Join the group!
