When faced with a decision about how to do the greatest good for the greatest number, Neighbors West Northwest (NWNW) quickly
chose to share funds with Neighborhood Emergency Teams (NETs) in their geographic area to add emergency preparedness supplies. Using $1000 gifted to our NET, we purchased tarps, “silky” saws for downed trees, emergency radios/flashlights, and batteries for the voice megaphones given to us recently by Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (PBEM). These items have been added to each neighborhood’s cache.
Do you know where your neighborhood cache is and what it contains? Each neighborhood is encouraged to review their cache inventory, decide what additional materials are needed, and donate items. Each neighborhood knows best what to store for a disaster.
We are grateful to Neighbors West Northwest for their vision and support of emergency preparedness in our community.
