Linnton Neighborhood Emergency Team happenings

LOCAL FILM STARS

The Linnton Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) has done it this time! You would think we would rather be vacationing, gardening, kayaking, hiking, or playing hooky, but no . . . we persuaded the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (PBEM) to film us talking to you and introducing safety messages. Go to https://linntonna.org/get-involved/net/ to see those familiar faces and get smarter.

We are counting on you—literally—PBEM wants to know that their investment is worthwhile and that you are watching. Each viewing is counted. Support NET in this way.

WHAT’S THAT FALLING ON YOUR HEAD?

When the shaking starts, have you thought about what might fall on your head? You can lessen the chances that you or your loved ones will be injured in your home with just a few steps.

Hear Dean Hiser sing, “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head… but not picture frames!” at https://linntonna.org/get-involved/net/

FIREWISE

Is your home one that has had a free exterior appraisal of your fire risk? Portland Fire & Rescue and NET want you and your home to be safe from wildfires. If your home burns, will your neighbor’s home follow? If your neighbor’s house ignites, will it spread to yours? Nobody in Linnton wants that. We are in this together.

Hear Shawn Looney explain Firewise https://linntonna.org/get-involved/net/ and then click to go to a Portland Fire & Rescue page with everything you need to know about from safety tips to fire-resistant vegetation.

LINNTON RESIDENTS WEIGH IN

“What are your biggest safety concerns living in Linnton?”

“When do you Shelter in Place and when do you evacuate?”

“What evacuation routes would you take?”

“What would make you feel safer about living here?”

These are just a few of the questions that folks in each of our neighborhoods responded to in personal interviews and in email questionnaires so that Linnton NET could assess our community’s perspectives on important safety issues and take the next steps. Your input was valuable. Thank you to all who helped with the outreach and to those who talked with us.

Stay tuned for new announcements from NET.
