Volunteer to Help Plan LCC’s 100th Anniversary
It’s true – the Linnton Community Center turns 100 in 2026. Volunteers are needed to join a planning committee to help connect the many generations of folks who have benefited from the center.
The committee will plan events, outreach, and research center history. For example, did you know basketball legend Bill Walton’s brother Andy Walton worked at LCC in the 1970’s.
To volunteer: Susy Kristin at 503-490-1541 or executivedirector@linnton.com.
Summer Camp – Register Early
Registration opens February 1 for summer 2025 Summer Camp at LCC. Neighbors are encouraged to register early as the camp has been at capacity the past several years. Each week is organized around a different theme to engage childrens’ imaginations.
Preschool for All at LCC
LCC’s ABC University Preschool is a certified Preschool for All pilot site that serves 20 preschool-age kids. Multnomah County’s Learning Division funds three preschool teaching positions with good salaries and ensures access for low-income families.
The program is going so well there is a waiting list. For neighborhood families that want to get in, the advice is to keep applying. Check out the program website at https://multco.us/programs/preschool-all.
Food Pantry Feeds Our Community
The LCC Food Pantry is open every Tuesday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Each month the pantry serves roughly 378 households or 989 individuals with a 3-5 day food supply. A dedicated crew of six put in 83 volunteer hours per month.
A volunteer is needed to drive each Thursday morning to Corbett to pick up donations of bread and produce. Thanks to current volunteer drivers – Alton Faleton Jr., Vadim Tatarento, and Emily Morgan.
The pantry needs someone with access to a commercial-grade kitchen where donated large cuts of meat can be divided. To help: Tim Kirstin at 503-286-4990. LCC is an Oregon Food Bank partner.
