Sponsor Spotlight: The Westside Watershed Resource Center

Looking for free resources to manage rain on your property, community watershed projects, or natural gardening?

The Westside Watershed Resource Center (WWRC) inspires awareness and action for watershed health in SW and NW Portland. Outreach and education are provided for residents, schools, nonprofits, businesses, and community groups through workshops, volunteer planting projects, field trips, technical resources, tool loans, and site visits. WWRC was created in 1994, and expanded to include NW Portland in 2019.

Managing rain where it falls is an important part of caring for our watersheds. When rain washes over streets and buildings, it becomes stormwater and picks up pollution and carries it into rivers and streams. In the past year, WWRC worked with individuals and community groups on Portland’s westside to reduce the flow of stormwater and improve watershed health — 132 volunteers planted over 1700 native plants and improved over 7000 square feet of landscape to better absorb rainfall.

Services are provided at no cost  — WWRC is funded through a partnership between Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services and District Four Coalition (formerly NWNW).
