The River Trail is waiting for a permit.
The holdup is twofold. Parks has claimed that the project can’t go forward without the property owner’s permission, which has not yet been obtained, and Parks also claims that project cannot go forward because the trail described in the application is not within the easement that allows the trail to be built.
According to the Project Manager, Noel Johnson, both these issues have been addressed and neither of these objections will be fatal to the project. Once the permit is issued construction can start even though funding is not entirely assured.
Over the course of next year, the remaining funds will have to be raised to complete the project.
