Portland Fire & Rescue is once again stepping up to help Linnton reduce its susceptibility to wildfire, with assistance also provided by West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District, Forest Park Conservancy, and local neighbors. Fuel mitigation planning is in the works to remove ivy and other ladder fuels from the area below the Linnton School Place Condos and the area south, between the two nearby public stairways. Much of the area is on a steep grade, and grants will help pay for professional help in this at-risk area. Linnton is especially vulnerable to ignition sources from St. Helens Road, and with fire’s typical pattern of climbing uphill, Linnton is grateful for the assistance in reducing its fuel load.
