Linnton Residents Encouraged to Comment on Proposed Rules for DEQ’s Fuel Tank Seismic Stability Program

 From the DEQ website

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality is in the process of creating rules to implement the fuel tanks seismic stability requirements enacted in Senate Bill 1567. The bill requires operators of large capacity fuel handling facilities to assess their facility’s ability to withstand a magnitude 9 Cascadia earthquake event and propose mitigation to minimize risk. This includes all of the fuel facilities in the CEI Hub in Linnton.

The Rules Advisory Committee, consisting of 13 volunteers, with Nancy Hiser representing Linnton, served between October 2022 and April 2023. DEQ is now seeking public comment on the proposed rules. More information on this rulemaking, including the draft rules, can be found on the Fuel Tank Seismic Stability webpage at https://tinyurl.com/3t487zm4
