Mill building sold!

By Nancy Hiser

Our new merchant resident is The Junk King. Jason Edge, who has the franchise for the Portland Metro area, has added Linnton to his existing facilities in Tigard and Vancouver. The Junk King is a full-service hauling company that provides residential and business “cleanouts.” And where does this junk go? Jason wants to reduce the amount being “dumped” so some is resold, some goes to appropriate recycling facilities, some is donated to thrift stores, and what’s left over? To Metro Central Transfer Station—one of the reasons this Linnton location is desirable to The Junk King.

Purchased for $900,000, the building is getting a new roof and windows are being added; plumbing, electrical, and heating systems require updating before occupancy. The interior of the building itself will be respected and kept as is with exterior esthetics addressed over time. Jason hopes to fix up the Linnton Plywood sign and display it. Currently, The Junk King has about 20 employees but will probably add a few more. Jason appreciates the local history here and looks forward to learning more about our community. Welcome, Jason!
