We are making slow but sure progress with the Willamette River Access Trail. We are forming a partnership with Forest Park Conservancy as the fiscal sponsor. Thanks to board member Amy Jauron for helping us complete our financial responsibilities to secure a $815,000 state grant for the project.
The city has reported back and suggested a complete review of the Greenway Easement as part of the project. This will be our next step, along with securing fencing to separate the trail from industry. We are always happy to have more members on our committee.
At the heart of the issue are state land use rules for the Willamette Greenway which guide new development, uses, preservation of habitat, and visual access to the river. Maps will be available at the May 4th neighborhood meeting for neighbors to see and discuss.
