Volunteer Manager
Anyone interested in a Kingsley Community Garden plot should submit their name via the Plot Request Form – https://www.portland.gov/parks/community-gardens/request
There is no sign-up deadline. However, people who sign up now will likely be offered a plot as there are currently four open plots and a short waitlist.
Kingsley Community Garden is a community resource offered by City of Portland Parks and Recreation since 2017. The public garden is located north of the Shell gas station and east of St Helens Highway with access via gravel roads at NW 113th and 115th. The unmarked NW 115th provides the most direct access.
Garden plots are offered on a sliding scale based on household size and income. The plot fees range from $5-$124, depending on plot size and level of discount received. Additional details on plot sizes and prices can be found at https://www.portland.gov/parks/community-gardens/registration.
Garden tools, water and compost are provided by the City as part of having a plot. Plot owners are required to put in six hours of volunteer work in the garden each year. The first volunteer work party is scheduled for March 12, 10:00 to noon unless rained out.
Gail Curtis, the volunteer garden manager, can be reached at 503-860-8580 should people have questions about the garden operation. Mahala Greer, with Portland Parks and Recreation, can answer detailed questions regarding plot availability at 503-823-1612.
