5th annual Multnomah Channel Cleanup, Sept. 18

By Gail Curtis

The 5th annual Multnomah Channel Cleanup will be held Saturday, September 18th, 2021, from 11am to 2 pm (during a low tide).  This event is restricted to residents (and their guests) of houseboats (or floating homes) on the Multnomah Channel.  Residents will clean their moorage and can expand their cleaning to other moorages and to the riverbanks.

Residents and friends on Multnomah Channel moorages are welcome to help haul away trash either by kayak, boat, or barge. For those who don’t know, Linnton extends all the way to the Sauvie Island Bridge including several moorages along the Channel.

To be a liaison for mid-Multnomah Channel (Johnson’s Landing area) moorages, contact Coleen at 541.207.2218 or cbelico@gmail.com. To be a liaison for south-MC (SI Bridge area) moorages, contact Lacen at 503.433.1902 or lacengh@gmail.com.  Being a liaison entails  advertising on your moorage, telling folks to register with SOLVE, handing out supplies, and either getting trash to the SI Boat Ramp by 1:30 or (for Johnson’s Landing area folks) locate a dock for trash and barge pick up.

To be put on the MCCU email list, send your contact info to lacengh@gmail.com with special skills & offers. Thanks to SOLVE for providing bags, signs, and other materials.
