For this issue’s Linnton Business Highlight, we’re heading to the river! Fred’s Marina is a family-owned marina and old standby of Linnton that has been in continuous operation since 1946. Open to the public, and accessed by car right off of Marina Way, Fred’s is situated on the Multnomah Channel, just before it meets the Willamette River.

Fred’s is a favorite waypoint of many on the water, and you can pull up in your boat to fuel up, tie up while you stretch your legs, and even grab some fun snacks and drinks for you or the kids in your watercraft. (Food services are currently limited to packaged items due to COVID, but eventually, they’ll be able to offer hot dogs, coffee, and other items once again!)
The self-service boat ramp is $10.00 for public day use (and/or parking) for your fishing boat or other launch needs. While moorage is hard to come by right now with the increase in boating recreation during the pandemic, Fred’s does offer moorage when space is available for boats both motor-powered and human-powered, from 10 to 100 feet in length. You’ll see a mix of fishing, power, and sailboats at the Marina when you visit.
In addition to the boat launch and boating services, for Linnton neighbors, Fred’s Marina is also a handy place to get clear, non-Ethanol gasoline for your boat, lawn mower, chain saw or other equipment. And they often carry a few essential boating items like fishing tackle, hooks, bait, worms, and more.
Next time you’re on the water near Linnton, stop by to check out and support Fred’s Marina at 12800 NW Marina Way (or call 503-286-5537).
