Linnton is a unique neighborhood which features numerous hillsides; neighborhoods which are often divided by gullies, forest and ancient creeks. Some, like Springville, were once their own town. Many of the hills have no road out over the Tualatin Mountains, while others host a stream of cars and bikes moving through their remote communities. The neighborhood is united by its borders with the Willamette River and Forest Park. Although the original town site has yet to be restored by city council, it maintains a center with the community center, great restaurants and Linton Feed and Seed. Communication between the hills has been challenging and often people cannot attend the bi-monthly community meetings and so the idea of a Hill Representative was born. The designated person, on your hill, would bridge this gap and help with communication and problem-solving. Linnton Hill Rep Job Description
1. Find people to help with a few set tasks including delivering the newsletter, being the Neighborhood Emergency Team contact and serving as the Welcome Wagon for new neighbors.
2. Assure and delegate communication systems on your hill – phone trees, email lists and social media
3. Help people to solve collective community problems with Hill Meetings
4. Encourage and help the community member to bring their concerns to the LNA.
5. Plan an occasional Hill social activity or meeting, in coordination with the NET representative.
6. Try to represent your hill at LNA meetings or find someone who can.
Each hill has its own unique challenges so I hope this system helps to assure better communication and support for our much loved hill communities. If you are willing to be the Hill Rep for your hill, please let the LNA Chair know or you can contact me at sarahsojourner@mac.com.
