In response to funding challenges the Linnton Community Center is facing due to the COVID pandemic, the Linnton Neighborhood Association approved at their July 1 meeting contributing $1,000 from their general fund to LCC. The Community Center, like many other similar facilities, has had to shut down their preschool and summer camp programs, along with multiple other income-producing exercise activities. According to Susy Kristin, LCC director, the center is struggling to pay basic operating bills that come due regardless if the doors are open. Staff was laid off, resulting in minimal support for basic maintenance through the summer.
After approval at the July meeting, it was recommended to consider a motion at the following meeting on September 2nd for an additional $1,000 contribution. It was reported at the meeting that Neighbors West-Northwest, our neighborhood coalition, had also contributed $2,000 to LCC. Please attend if you want to weigh in on this issue.
